For decades, actors and recording artists in California have been denied the freedom and flexibility to pursue a paycheck by outdated and unfair employment contracts. They are unilaterally held off the market for extended periods of time by production studios and record labels, and recording artists are kept in long-term contracts that are virtually impossible to leave.

The 2022 California Free Artists from Industry Restriction (FAIR) Act clarifies that workers have a right to work multiple jobs and opens new earning opportunities for Californians, including actors and recording artists.
